Design duo Storm Thorgerson Aubrey Powell better known by their collective name Hipgnosis are renowned in the music world for creating iconic cover art for rock and roll greats. From Pink Floyd to Paul McCartney, Hipgnosis have been behind some of the most well known and well loved album artworks, shaping the aesthetic of the music industry since the late 1960s. This new series of limited editions brings the images back to life as archival inkjet prints, each one in beautiful, never before seen, clarity. ‘Houses Of The Holy Led Zeppelin’ features the original artwork from the 1973 Led Zeppelin album of the same name. The image based on Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘Childhood’s End’ uses a hand tinted photograph of The Giant’s Causeway, finished with collage laid children, clamouring towards their space bound journey. A compelling image, the print possesses a visual power which transcends its original musical context. A must have for the Zeppelin fan, the retro music collector, and anyone with a keen eye for the iconic.
